Robin DR 400 180R "Remorquer"

The Robin Dr 400 series are the modern successors of Jodel DR100 series. They possess still the wooden structure and the kined wing. The plane is still controled by a control stick instead of the control horn, which is usual with other airplanes today. The newer variants of DR400 are genuine four seaters. They are propelled by a machine with up to 180 HP, which give about 35 litres to fuel per hour used up with a maximum speed of 267 km/h. Since the first flight in March 1972, over 1300 Dr 400s were built. The Robin Dr 400 has excellent flight characteristics, a good energy/weight relationship, the ideal aircraft for small glider clubs. In particular the 180R "Remorquer" (trailer) with dragging mechanism is much favoured.
