Jasta 19 - Jagdgeschwader 2
Jasta 19 is noticeable by its aesthetic entire seeming.
Starting at the beginning of March the EK ("Eisernes Kreuz"=Iron cross) at the Triplanes fuselages in Jasta 19 was painted out with camouflage, that the national sign was no longer recognizable.
Thus the entire fuselage sides were available for the personal markings. (Jasta characteristics were the yellow-black tail unit and the white cowling.) Driving force for this development was Ltnt Walter Goettsch who led Jasta 19 of 14.2.1918 (establishment of JG II) up to its death to 10.4.1918. His marking was the completely white main wing , similar to other CO's and a big svastika at fuselage side.(DrI 419/17)
Jagdstaffel 19
(fighter squadron) was formed on 25 October 1916 in accordance with order of the Kogenluft (Kommandierender general of aviation) NR. 26806 by AFP1 (army vehicle park), FEA 14 (flier replacement department) , and was mobile for this time.
For some triplanes the military and/or factory number are not known. In these cases the identification number is specified by me such as par example (x11-3). This means, Jasta (fighter squadron) nr. 11 - nr 3.
